The project included the construction of a 3-story cancer center which houses medical offices as well as diagnostic and treatment facilities. The Cancer Center building is a steel framed structure with composite concrete upper floor slabs having a footprint of about 23,400 square feet. The facility was supported on timber piles. The building also has a linear accelerator vault which was supported on pre-cast concrete piles. Other improvements included paved parking and access drives on all four (4) sides. Pedestrian and vehicular access to the adjacent Ochsner Medical Center were provided along with some additional overflow parking. Access to the adjacent property required installation of some retaining structures and box culvert type crossings over an existing drainage canal. In addition, a detention area was added at the southern end of the cancer center parcel.

SE was retained to provide a comprehensive Geotechnical investigation which included drilling five (5) borings to a depth of 70 to 100 feet. In addition, SE provided materials testing and inspection services during the construction phase.
