The Fisk-Howard Elementary School encompasses the majority of a city block located at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and South Lopez Street. The building is a 3-story structure with a steel frame and load bearing walls having a footprint of approximately 53,000 square feet. A crawl space was provided under the building with a minimum clearance of 3.5 feet to eliminate the need for fill and maximize the capacity of the piles.

SE was retained to provide Geotechnical Engineering services and materials testing and inspection services for the project. Six (6) borings were drilled to a depth of 85 feet below the surface.
