Key Personnel

Tony Y. Maroun, P.E.

Tony is the Principal and Manager of Stratum Engineering, LLC. Under his leadership, the firm has experienced significant growth in a short period of time. He leads a group of technical professionals who share his beliefs and passions. Tony continues to be a hands-on engineer and oversees the company’s overall operations, promotes Stratum Engineering’s core values and commitments, and drives growth and development of new disciplines.

Prior to founding Stratum Engineering, Tony spent 24 years with a national engineering firm. He joined the firm as a part-time technician while attending graduate school in 1985. After graduation in 1987, he continued his employment with the same firm and practiced in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Washington where he rose through the ranks to Vice President and Principal Engineer. During his tenure, he became well recognized in the community and developed strong relationships locally and nationally which are integral to Stratum’s success.

Tony graduated with a Bachelor and a Master of Science degrees from the University of New Orleans. He is happily married to Elizabeth since 1987. Tony and Elizabeth are both dog lovers and their common interests include traveling, boating, exercising and music.

Gregory J. Richards

Senior Project Manager

William 'Dean' McInnis, P.E.

Project Manager/Geotechnical Engineer

Dean currently serves as the Project Manager over the geotechnical engineering services and oversees the drilling and laboratory operations. He and Tony work closely to develop a thorough understanding of each project and ensure the project deliverables are met in a timely manner while providing a hands on, personal approach to every aspect of the project.

Dean spent five years serving in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter crew chief and quality assurance inspector before returning home to southeast Louisiana in 2004. He joined the Slidell Fire Department in 2005 and worked as a firefighter for the next 2 ½ years including extensive service during Hurricane Katrina. Dean resigned from the fire service in 2007 to continue his education at the University of New Orleans. While attending UNO full-time, he worked during the day for a national engineering firm as a soils laboratory technician and nights and weekends for an oil spill response company. Following his graduation with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from UNO in spring 2011, he became the Soils Lab Manager before leaving to join Stratum Engineering.

Dean has been happily married to his wife, Amanda, since 2001 and they have two great kids. They love spending their time away from work coaching their kid’s sports teams, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Norman Vallette

Project Manager/Staff Engineer

Norman currently serves as a Project Manager in the geotechnical engineering services department and coordinates the drilling and laboratory operations. He personally examines every single soil boring that passes through our lab and prepares test results and reports.

Norman was born and raised in New Orleans, attended the University of New Orleans, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he began his career with Stratum as a field technician. However, he quickly advanced to Project Manager and assists Tony and Dean in every aspect of the geotechnical engineering process.

Norman began sailing competitively at a very young age on Lake Pontchartrain and continues to do so locally as well as on the national scene. As much as he loves sailing on a competitive level, he also enjoys just cruising around and spending time on the water. When he is not working, he can most likely be found out on the lake.

Scott A. McLean

Project Manager

Mr. McLean presently oversees the day to day operations including project coordination with clients during the construction phases. He supervises the field technicians and ensures they have the necessary support to diligently complete daily field assignments. He is also involved with field and laboratory testing on a variety of projects.  Scott attended UNO and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.  Scott began his career with Stratum while in his final year of college and worked as an engineering technician for more than two and a half years. His experience and commitment earned him the place of Project Manager.  Scott is married to Michelle and they have one baby daughter, Madison.  They share common interest in things such as watching movies, taking walks, biking, and spending time with friends and family.
